# Auto-recharge

> Automatically top up your credit wallet when balance is insufficient for renewals.

**Auto-recharge** tops up your wallet from your **active** saved payment method when your balance is insufficient for automation actions such as campaign renewals.

It is a setting you control. Saving a payment method alone does **not** turn auto-recharge on — you enable it explicitly (Soundlink may also enable it when you add your first active method, depending on the flow you use).

## Requirements

* At least one [payment method](/docs/learn/wallet/payment-methods) with status **Active**
* Auto-recharge enabled on **Settings → Credit wallet & payment methods**

## How to configure

1. Go to **Settings → Credit wallet & payment methods**.
2. In **Auto-recharge**, turn on **Enable auto-recharge**.
3. Optionally turn on **Monthly cap (USD)** and enter a maximum amount Soundlink can auto-charge per calendar month.
4. Click **Save settings** if you changed the monthly cap.

Leave the monthly cap off if you do not want a monthly limit.

## What happens at renewal

When a wallet campaign is due to renew and your balance cannot cover the next cycle:

1. If **auto-recharge is on**, Soundlink charges your **active** payment method for the amount needed (subject to the monthly cap).
2. Credits are added to your wallet, then the renewal continues.
3. If the charge fails, the cap is exceeded, or auto-recharge is off, the campaign can move to **renew failed** — top up manually to recover. See [Renewals](/docs/learn/wallet/renewals).

About **24 hours** before a renewal, Soundlink may email the workspace primary user that an auto-charge may occur if balance is still short. See [Renewals → Heads-up emails](/docs/learn/wallet/renewals#heads-up-emails).

## Monthly cap

The monthly cap limits how much Soundlink can auto-charge your active card in a **single calendar month**, so unexpected spend cannot run away.

| Setting | Behavior |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Cap **off** | No monthly auto-charge limit |
| Cap **on** | Auto-charges stop once the month’s auto-recharge total would exceed the cap |

If a needed auto-charge would exceed the cap, Soundlink does not charge. Top up manually or raise the cap.

## Turn off auto-recharge

Toggle **Enable auto-recharge** off at any time. Running campaigns are not stopped by this change — they keep using your current wallet balance until the next renewal needs more credits.

Turning auto-recharge off can also deactivate active payment methods so cards stay in sync with the setting. You can activate a method again later when you re-enable auto-recharge.
